Retail Area Manager Jobs

A retail area manager in most retail sectors has a key role in maximising the sales and profitability of a chain of stores, within a specific geographic area. A retail area manager will work closely with a team of store managers to plan, co-ordinate, and develop each store’s commercial performance in line with strategic targets.

Area managers in retail are usually responsible for a number of the business’ key performance indicators in each area - typically, people management, sales and profit, commercial management and compliance. With the development of the role, from overseeing the property portfolio to providing active strategic business support, they are increasingly referred to as district managers or business development managers. In an increasingly competitive industry, this is a high pressured, but rewarding role.
